About Us — Our Journey to the Hideaway

We’re Andrew and Ashley, a husband-and-wife team who traded the fast pace of Southern California for wide-open skies and quiet mornings in northern Arizona. Andrew is a welder by trade — someone who’s always built things with his hands and an eye for lasting craftsmanship. Ashley works in the fashion industry and brings a creative touch to everything we do, from organizing our off-grid home to documenting our life for others to share.

For years, we dreamed of living a simpler, more intentional life — one that wasn’t ruled by traffic, noise, and endless screens. That dream finally became real when we found forty acres of untamed high-desert land surrounded by juniper trees. It’s rugged, beautiful, and remote. Life out here isn’t easy, but that’s the point. Every challenge teaches us something new about patience, resourcefulness, and the freedom that comes from self-reliance.

We call it Hideaway Homestead Ranch — a place to build, learn, and reconnect with what matters.

Building an Off-Grid Life in Arizona

Day by day, we’re turning raw land into a working homestead. We’ve built our solar power system, set up water storage and hauling solutions, and are designing new ways to grow food in a dry, high-elevation climate. Each project reflects our goal of living sustainably and proving that off-grid living in Arizona can be both practical and rewarding.

Through our YouTube channel and blog, we share that process — the good, the bad, and the dusty. Whether it’s wiring a new inverter, hauling water through the backcountry, or setting up a small compost system, we want others to see what’s possible with determination, creativity, and a willingness to learn.

Our Vision for Hideaway Homestead Ranch

Our long-term goal is to create a self-sustaining ranch that regenerates the land instead of depleting it. We’re working toward soil restoration, rotational grazing, and water conservation — practices that bring life back to this tough desert environment.

We hope our story inspires others to take their own step toward independence, whether that’s starting a backyard garden, installing solar power, or simply rethinking what it means to live well.

Hideaway Homestead Ranch isn’t just a place — it’s a journey toward freedom, resilience, and respect for the land we call home.
